John Michael Breen

Biography

John-Michael Breen, a native of Chelmsford, Massachusetts, began performing with youth and community theatres around the southern New Hampshire area at the age of six, including Actorsingers, StageCoach Productions, and Peacock Players. Peacock Players credits include: Peter Pan; Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat; Disney’s Beauty and the Beast; Little Women; You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown; The Wiz; and the New Hampshire premiere of The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, among others.

Upon graduation from high school, JM attended the Conservatory of Performing Arts at Point Park University in Pittsburgh, PA. He graduated summa cum laude with a B.F.A. in Theatre Arts. While at school, he trained and worked alongside such artists as Patrick Cassidy, Alan Stanford, Billy Hartung, Karla Boos, and F. Murray Abraham.

After moving to New York City in 2015, he found success working across the country for companies such as North Shore Music Theatre, Seacoast Repertory Theatre, Greater Boston Stage Co., Jenny Wiley Theatre, and The Winnipesaukee Playhouse. Favorite credits include: The Burnt Part Boys (Pete), RED (Ken), Lost In Yonkers (Jay), A Midsummer Night’s Dream (Helena), Dracula (Renfield), The Robber Bridegroom (Little Harp), The Graduate (Benjamin), The Hunchback of Notre Dame (Clopin), and multiple productions of both Peter and the Starcatcher (Ted, Slank/Hawking Clam) and The Rocky Horror Show (Riff Raff, Eddie).

From 2018-2019, he starred as Lonny in the 10th Anniversary North American tour of Rock of Ages. 

In 2020, he won the New Hampshire Theatre Award for Best Supporting Actor in a Professional Musical for the role of Amos Hart in Chicago at The Winnipesaukee Playhouse.

As a director, credits include works by Tennessee Williams, Tony Kushner and Frank Wedekind. At The Winnipesaukee Playhouse he co-directed Lord of the Flies for the Education Department (NHTA Nominee, Best Youth Production) and assisted direction on the world premiere of The Almost True and Truly Remarkable Adventures of Israel Potter, American Patriot.

He is endlessly grateful to Peacock Players as they continue to provide worthwhile theatre arts education for artists of all ages.
