AUDITIONS
Auditions for this production will take place on August 24th and 25th. Pre-registering is strongly recommended. Invitational callbacks will be on August 27th.
The initial audition will consist of a singing audition (please review the requirements below). The invitational callbacks will include dance, singing, and possibly readings from the script. We will be casting ages 14-18.
Peacock Players prides ourselves on a welcoming casting experience. We make casting decisions based on ability to portray the role and handle the responsibilities of the role, including skills in collaboration, respect, responsibility, acting, singing, and dance. We do not make casting decisions based on racial or ethnic background (unless for a show when that is crucial to the character), size, body composition, religion, socioeconomic background, or any other protected class. We respect actor’s limits regarding which roles they are willing to accept, including content, gender expression, and beyond.
Audition Requirements:
Please prepare a 64 bar ( approximately 60 second) cut from a song that fits the style of the show and suits your voice. This is a classic, Golden Age musical, so please consider songs from similar musicals like Disney movies and musicals, like Oklahoma!, The Sound of Music, Fiddler on the Roof, Kiss Me Kate, My Fair Lady, West Side Story, etc. Selections from the show are also encouraged. We strongly suggest singing something that shows your comedic timing. Avoid musicals from very different genres (“Rent”, for example, will not tell us how your voice will fit into this show!)
Your audition song should be memorized and show your ability to portray the character’s emotions, mannerisms, etc. Dance will not be done until the invitational callback. Please bring a device to play your accompaniment track on, such as a smartphone.
Please note: There is a $175 tuition to participate in this MainStage production. If the tuition would create a hardship for your family, please apply for a scholarship.
